Team
Our team of international experts from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Malawi, UK and The Netherlands combines cutting-edge research with in-depth field experience and a high profile in policy making and translating research into practice.
The multidisciplinary team uses theories and methods from sociology, social anthropology, economics and health sciences, building on existing scholarship that links poverty and social stratification to health outcomes.
The project partners run six large demographic surveillance sites and implement participatory women’s group intererventions to reduce maternal and newborn mortality. These interventions are evaluated by the project partners, using a cluster randomised trial design.
